At Packetra, privacy isn't just a policy, it's our foundation.

1. Our Privacy Commitment

Packetra was founded on the principle that privacy is a fundamental right, not a luxury. We operate servers in privacy-friendly jurisdictions (although each jurisdiction has their set of privacy laws) and design our systems to collect only what's absolutely necessary.

Our Promise: We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. Period.

2. Information We Collect

What We Don't Require:

  • Real name (you can use a pseudonym)
  • Physical address
  • Phone number
  • Government ID

Domain Registration Exception: While we don't require this information for hosting, certain domain extensions (like .nl, .de, .uk, etc.) have registrar requirements for valid contact information. These requirements are set by the domain registry, not by us. Domain privacy/WHOIS protection may be available depending on the extension.

Optional Information:

  • Contact Name - If you choose to provide it
  • Company Name - For business accounts (optional)
  • Domain Contact Information - Required by domain registrars for domain registration services

  • Browser Information - User agent, browser type (for website functionality)
  • Server Logs - Standard web server logs

Anonymous Signup: When you pay with cryptocurrency, we only need an email address. No other personal information required.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Service Delivery - Providing and maintaining your hosting services
  • Billing - Processing payments and sending invoices
  • Support - Responding to your support requests and technical issues
  • Security - Preventing fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
  • Legal Compliance - Meeting our legal obligations when required by valid court orders
  • Service Improvements - Improving our infrastructure and services (using anonymized data)

We do NOT:

  • Sell your data to advertisers or data brokers
  • Use your data for marketing to third parties
  • Track you across the web
  • Build advertising profiles
  • Share your data with anyone except as described in this policy

4. When We Share Your Information

We share your information only in these limited circumstances:

Service Providers:

  • Payment Processors - PayPal, cryptocurrency payment providers (they process payments and have their own privacy policies)
  • Domain Registrars - For domain registration services (required by ICANN regulations)

Infrastructure Note: We use third-party datacenters for server hardware, but they do not have access to your account data or personal information.

Legal Requirements:

We disclose information only when legally required by:

  • Valid court orders from respective jurisdiction
  • Legal process in our operating jurisdictions

Transparency: When legally permitted, we notify affected customers of legal requests for their data. We do not voluntarily cooperate with mass surveillance programs.

  • Billing Records - Retained for accounting purposes (legal requirement)
  • Support Tickets - Retained for accounts for quality purposes.
  • Backups - Backup data retained for up to 30 days, then permanently deleted

Minimal Retention: We keep data only as long as necessary for service provision and legal compliance. We don't hoard your information.

Under GDPR and other privacy laws, you have the right to:

Access Your Data:

Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you. We'll provide it in a portable format (JSON or CSV).

How to Exercise Your Rights: Contact us through our forms on our website or contact our support directly.

7. How We Protect Your Data

We implement industry-standard security measures:

  • Encryption - All data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.3
  • Secure Storage - Database encryption at rest
  • Access Controls - Limited employee access to customer data (need-to-know basis only)
  • Two-Factor Authentication - Available for all accounts
  • DDoS Protection - Network-level protection against attacks
  • Regular Security Audits - Ongoing security assessments and updates
  • Secure Data Centers - Physical security at all server locations

Your Responsibility: Use strong passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and keep your login credentials secure. We can't protect data if your account is compromised due to weak security practices.

8. Cookies & Tracking

Essential Cookies:

We use minimal cookies necessary for website functionality:

  • Session Cookie - Keeps you logged into your account
  • Preference Cookie - Remembers your currency and datacenter selection

What We DON'T Use:

  • Cross-site tracking or user profiling
  • Facebook Pixel or social media trackers
  • Advertising or retargeting cookies
  • Third-party data brokers or analytics sharing

Analytics We Use:

We use Google Analytics for website performance monitoring. We do not use advertising trackers or share data with third parties.

9. Payment Information

We do NOT store credit card numbers or full payment details.

We store only:

  • Transaction ID
  • Payment amount
  • Payment method type
  • Transaction date

Cryptocurrency Privacy: When you pay with cryptocurrency, we receive only the transaction hash and amount. No financial institution details are collected.

11. Data Storage Locations

We operate servers in multiple datacenters across different jurisdictions. When you sign up, you select your preferred server location, and all your hosting data is stored and processed in that datacenter.

If you are physically located in a different country than your chosen server location, your data will be stored internationally in your selected jurisdiction.

Why Location Matters: Different countries have different privacy laws, data protection standards, and legal processes. We select datacenter locations based on strong privacy protections, giving you control over which jurisdiction governs your data.

You can view available datacenter locations during the signup process.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect:

  • Changes in our data practices
  • New legal requirements
  • New features or services

We will notify you of significant changes by:
